Advancing global health equity: the importance of equitable partnerships and processes

In this talk I begin by providing a brief account of the history of global health. Next, I explain why health equity should be the key focus of global health practice, education and research activities. I conclude by drawing attention to the importance of equitable partnerships and processes for achieving global health equity.

Case 1: A new diagnostic hypothesis for a multilocular lesion with internal calcifications

The diagnostic hypothesis of multilocular lesions presenting with internal calcifications is challenging and may include the common suspects such as calcifying odontogenic cysts, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumours, and adenomatoid odontogenic tumours in rarer instances. In this case, another recently elucidated and rare entity is discussed and added to the possible diagnostic hypothesis list.

As a youthful nation, the health and well-being of the children of Africa are of paramount importance. Malignancies in children are debilitating and may be life threatening. Early identification has an influence on the prognosis and radiology plays an important role.

Case 3: Family history of secondary osteomyelitis: 22 years and counting

Secondary osteomyelitis often develops in susceptible bone due to a multitude of conditions. In this case, a healthy female patient presenting with a 22-year history of secondary osteomyelitis is discussed along with her descendants who have also presented sporadically with similar clinical presentations over the period.
